At Community Village, we want to create an atmosphere where wholesome friendship & community can thrive. Our values are the qualities we commit to actively cultivating in ourselves, and with each other when we’re together, to bring to life the community we wish for.

Here’s a Closer Look at Our Core Values:
1. Friendship - Cultivating wholesome friendships
“Our goal is to create a beloved community and this will require a qualitative change in our souls as well as a quantitative change in our lives.” - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
- Why? Because we all wish for love & connection and we need each other to thrive! Modern science and ancient wisdom traditions agree: Community is key to our health, happiness, and resilience.
- Alternatives? Loneliness, separation, sadness, sense of lack. Hate & fear-based living.
- How? Every CV gathering is an opportunity to cultivate wholesome friendship by how you show up! At Gatherings you can practice the Community Guidelines, the Values and cultivating wholesome qualities. Wholesome qualities like: lovingkindness, compassion, mindfulness, inclusivity, generosity, joy, wisdom, appreciation, non-harming, honesty, patience, and more. Society is often not supporting us to develop these qualities - so we support each other instead!
2. Meditation - Remembering to practice meditation
"Mindfulness isn't difficult, we just need to remember to do it." - Sharon Salzberg
- Why? In our busy lives, it’s easy to get caught up and forget about taking the time to stop and be aware. To come back to ourselves, meditate and contemplate. Let’s be honest - sometimes we need all the reminders we can get! At Community Village, we remind each other of how important it is to direct our attention wisely, cultivate wholesome qualities of heart & mind, and to let go. And in times when its hard, we can lean into community to find new inspiration.
- Alternatives? Greed, hatred, and delusion. Allowing our past traumas, habit patterns and the attention economy to control our life.
- How? Come to a meditation-specific gathering (ie. our weekly meditation or regular meditation center field trips), reach out and ask the community for help or inspiration, extend an invitation to meditate together at a meditation center or through an online course, or utilize our Meditation Retreat Resource Guide to find a retreat. In the end, by simply being around other meditators more often - we are reminded and inspired to practice.
